Vision, Mission & History

Vision

To be the Best Club in the region.

The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club is dedicated to becoming one of the top 500 clubs in the world. We focus on ongoing enhancements to our facilities, with the aim of elevating the golf courses and clubhouse to further align with the pursuit of excellence.

Mission

To provide premier Golf, Yachting, Recreation and Dining services in a friendly manner that exceeds the expectations of members, guests and visitors always.

As the Club embarks on a new journey in its history, the reason for all the changes is sample: to elevate the experiences of our members and to foster interest and enthusiasm among their associates, business partners, and golfers from across the globe – indeed anyone who gets into contact with the Club.

Milestones

1970s

“The selected site is situated on a rugged peninsula at the southern edge of the Sai Kung Peninsula, bordered by sea on three sides, positioned between Clearwater Bay and Joss House Bay.”

1980s

“Our purpose has been to aim high in the standard of service we want to provide at the Country Club – high enough to compare with any around the world – but not necessarily expensive”

Sir Kenneth Ping-fan Fung (Chairman) and Sir Run Run Shaw (Vice Chairman)

1990s

In the 1980s, Hong Kong’s political future was uncertain, and the economy was depressed. The Club experienced operating deficits, which created a severe interest burden. The Club was liquidated. With the support of the Lieu family, the Club reopened in the 1990s and celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 1992.

2000s

The Club achieved a few milestones in the millennium. Its community programme was formed in 2003. The next year, the Country Club’s indoor Teambuilding Gym opened, making it the first Club in Hong Kong to offer this service. In 2006, the new and improved golf course commenced operation.

2010s

Many successful international, recreational and charity golf competitions have been hosted by the Club. The Club’s use by prestigious competitions reached its apogee in October 2015 with the hosting of the seventh edition of the Asia- Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC).

2020s

Despite the unprecedented challenge brought by the COVID, The Club has been committed to provide premium service to members and giving back to the community. In 2023, it celebrated the 40th Anniversary which marked a milestone of the Club’s history.

In 2024, the Club established its Charitable Foundation, and marked 20th anniversary of its community initatives.
